I've been very impressed with the Denafrips, pulling out cds I haven't listened to for years. A year later and with much research for something in the under 1k range, I bought the Denafrips Ares II (R2R) and the Shiit Bifrost 2. My cd collection was pretty much sitting on shelves collecting dust. I'm basically a 2-channel, no subwoofer, silver-faced receiver/amp 70's audiophile who enjoys vinyl and the basics that I grew up with. it made that much difference? So, down the rabbit hole I went. Then, my 30-something nephew let me borrow his Shiit Modi. In the winter of 2020, another collector of vintage audio introduced me to the DAC difference. I will give it a good workout for a week or two then give a honest mini review. I will say their New top R7 mk2 is noticeable better still I was told and their flagship R7 HE MK2 looks fantastic and has power regeneration built in and output to a master clock option. Not much more to add ,just read all past R7 reviews and that is a good starting point. It is a very large dac and at 26 lbs it requires a whole shelf. The 3 R core transformers 2 - in pure class A for the analog output stage, and 1 for the Digital with 130,000 uf in capacitance which is more then most amps, gives it a big advantage to most dacs out there ,most certainly in its price class under$2500Īnd uses with the latest servo technologies so runs much cooler, with lower distortion levels. What it sounds like you can literally Taylor to your audio taste. I owned the latest Schiit Yggsdrasil last year and bought the latest board very neutral very good dynamics too cool for my taste, but none of these others have the prat and shear scale of dynamics and musical density ,and it has 7 real user adjustments FPGA in its programmingĤ non oversampling ,one vinyl ,and 3 over sampling. We Directly compared the Denafrips Pontus at the audio get together it was very refined a bit laid back the pontus very similar to the Holo springs 2. I will give a full rundown once I have logged a week or two on it ,2 R- core transformers go to the pure class A analog output section, the 3 rd transformer -digital is now fully servo controlled and runs much cooler and much better specifications. it weighs 26 lbs ,Underwood Wally is now the U.S distributor and service center. You literally can Taylor the sound to your audio system. Of capacitance is more then most amps has a lot to do with it I will be getting my dac next week and put side by side with very well know competitors it was noticeable better in several areas, and it has 7 sonic adjustments all FPGA basedĤ- non over sampling ,including a vinyl mode, and 3 over sampling other dacs just a minor OS option The dynamics and realism is what sets this apart it’s massive power supplies and over 130k uf This dac just came out late April 2021 ,over a year went into the redesign the Owner stated this unit has several advancements vs previous designs, and runs much cooler for less money then the previous R7 but better ,their is also a mk2 R7 also as well as a Flagship R7 HE with power regeneration, which I wanted but could not afford. Their latest and best value is the New R8 mk2 dac. It is very well built using 3 R core transformers rarely seen unless spending $$. I was listening to a 3 years old R2R dac the R7 from AudioGD a 20 year old company which won several awards which is not known much in the U.S yet ,This New R8-MK2 is better still. I have been in the Audio field for over 4 decades and have owned some pretty exclusive audio gear

I have used Logic since the early days.I have tried presonus studio one if you like drag and drop workflow then you would probably enjoy the workflow of studio one.I have Sonar X3 which has a devoted following but I have found it to be glitchy and it has various little bugs which irritate me I like the prochannel idea that it implements which is really like a popout mixer channel which you can add gates, compressers, and other fx. I also suggest watching some DAW videos for your specific use cases first, there's often some important info about workflow that you can't see from product specs or essential tricks you won't find in the manual. Logic would be my choice for mixing and finalizing a track, but in your case Pro Tools holds that position.įrom what you describe it sounds like you could do with Ableton, then Pro Tools. How important is the integration of external MIDI and Audio gear? How would you like to have them integrated?įor some reason, especially in the initial creative process, I use Ableton Live a lot more. Do you really need a linear track recording approach or could you become friends with pattern-oriented recording of ideas/snippets and spontaneous rearrangement? Do you have to exchange projects with other studios? What's missing in Pro Tools Windows that you rely upon in Logic Pro X? Reaper is very good too, but make sure you can be friends with its workflow.īut before suggesting any DAW, I'd like to start asking like this: (I'd even recommend Tracktion for its great workflow if there was some beefier development behind) Studio One, Ableton Live, Cubase, Pro Tools. The last thing I want to do is buy software I pretty much already have. I have done research, but I appreciate the communicative way to approach things. I do truly appreciate those that are on here. I looked, but either my search skills suck, or I just got too impatient with the monotony of sifting through stuff. I apologize in advanced if this exact question is on here somewhere. I am just looking for something easy on the system, superb work flow with virtual instruments, has a relatively small learning curve (as I would be using this in the studio with other engineers, so I will be teaching them as well), routing is simple, looks impressive to clients (don't judge me), and most importantly. So please, spare me that lecture, I understand. I also wouldn't recommend Pro Tools to someone who clearly doesn't really care about editing as a career and is just trying to record some basic ideas for fun. I would never recommend Logic X to a studio that needs to run 500 channels with an ass load of inserts (especially Waves plugins) for a post production project. Anyone have any experience with it? I seen it got a very heavy update and I am curious if it fixed all of the things wrong with it since launch.Īgain, I understand that people say a DAW is a personal thing. But with the new upgrades, it is looking appealing. I used to run Cubase 5 back in the day, but I have not worked with it since. I have finally upgraded to a far more powerful PC, and I didn't take into consideration that you can't run Logic on PC. Up until recently, I have used Mac for all of my work. Of course if it's game audio it would be the same, except I will either the use engine that the devs are using, or hopefully, Wwise or Fmod (if they are supported), instead of Pro Tools. When I do sound design for post production, I will almost always do the heavy editing in Audacity, bring it in to Logic to add a few layers of sweetness to it, then I ultimately bring it into Pro Tools where the rest of the session is. If I am working with an artist who is very heavy in the loop/sample based type of music, I will use Ableton. If I am working on some serious sound design, I use Audacity. All of my real sessions are done on a Pro Tools 11hd rig. If I am working with a band, artist, or just my stuff, I usually go to Logic to feel out chord progressions, different instrumentation, or some just some basic recording for rough ideas. I have found that Logic X is a fantastic tool for writing music because of the simplicity and work flow it provides. and not 'that guy' who has just used it at a friend's house. So I am interested in the opinion of those that have actually worked with it. I know that the people who post here are very experienced, and with that, most of you are very familiar with Logic. My question is this: What would the wise people of this forum suggest as an alternative to Logic X on Windows? I feel I should also note, I am not new to audio world. To compensate, they would tighten the plug as much as possible, and in the process destroy the thread in the oil pan. The culprit, just like with filters, is that even if the person who changes your oil ever bothers to install a new seal, they would have to use a universal/generic one. We frequently see drain plugs that have damaged threads. Overly tightened seals, causing damage to drain plugs. As our experience shows, rather than protecting your engine, these generic filters may cause damage as they fall apart during operation. The problem with these generics is that they are no-name and often of the lowest possible quality. If they stocked vehicle-specific filters, they would need a warehouse for storage space. Have you ever wondered how quick lube shops manage to stock filters for all brands and models of cars? They have universal generic “filters” that fit most cars, albeit poorly. Do you think they will be satisfied with an invoice, saying “Full synth euro oil” without any further specifics? In case you have a problem with your engine the selling dealership will ask for proof of regular maintenance. This becomes critical if your vehicle is still under warranty. Fluids that meet such requirements should be OEM-approved. Every German OEM will have their own very specific requirements for fluids that go into their cars. They simply cannot and would not store oils recommended or approved for each car brand. Most quick lube shops use generic, universal grades of oil, including one type of mineral engine oil for all domestic vehicles, and one type of “synthetic” for all import vehicles. Would you be comfortable with someone with such impeccable credentials doing anything to your German car? By regulation, quick lube shops are not required to have a certified auto technician on location, and they are free to hire anyone capable of breathing and lifting a wrench, even if such an individual has never previously opened a vehicle hood. Meeting a certified technician at a quick lube shop is like bumping into a French cuisine chef at Wendy’s. This is the main disadvantage of any quick lube shop. They are found at most major commercial centres near residential areas. Chances are that your commute time to a quick lube shop will be short. There is a shop in virtually every neighbourhood. At most shops, you can stay inside your vehicle for about 20-30 minutes, then drive away when you’re finished. At a quick lube shop, the service is literally just that: quick. This fits into many schedules that are already stuffed to the brim with things to do, so it’s a selling feature for these companies. Typically, you can drive up to a quick lube shop without an appointment and get your oil changed. But is it really the best solution for your vehicle’s longevity? Let’s explore the pros and cons of using a quick lube shop. It’s convenient, it’s fast, and it’s usually cheap. It’s no surprise that many vehicle owners associate this task as quick and simple, so taking the vehicle to a quick lube shop is not uncommon. It also happens to be one of the least complicated maintenance tasks. The lower tech can be nameless since he's smart enough to work where the customers can't sit there and easily hear him talking incompetent the entire time.Everyone knows how vital oil changes are to the health of your vehicle. TIM is the manager/"courtesy" person (haha!), and DREW was the upper tech. I was very disappointed with their knowledge of how to do their ONE job, change the oil, as well as their horrible attitudes about doing their ONE job. I wanted to go somewhere local, and this was my first time at this location. Seriously? These guys had the WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. For ANY price it should be FREE to get your change oil light reset. Nothing's for free." So they chose not to bother to reset my change oil light, and thought it was appropriate to charge a person to reset their light even after paying $75 for an oil change. The one said, "We'd have to charge for that anyway. They had told me at the beginning that they could reset my "change oil" light when I asked about it, but then I heard them say to one another that they have the machine to do it but would have to program it so weren't going to reset the light. That was fine until they continued to b*tch to one another throughout the entire process about how they didn't want to mess with the oil change, takes double the time (also double the price!). The entire time I was there, the guys were talking amongst themselves about how they weren't sure how to change the oil in this car ("I'm just guessing this is the oil filter *laughs* *starts banging around with tools*") I offered to look up a YouTube video to assist. read more I went today for a high-mileage oil change worth $75. If nothing helps and the moss won’t kill itself, some gardeners also turn to iron fertiliser. If it’s not the soil, but the fact that the lawn is growing in a shady spot, it may help to sow a special lawn for shade or opt for other tread-resistant groundcovers. If the value is less than 5.5, you should lime the soil. An ideal pH value for the soil is 6 to 7. With tests from the garden centre, you can then find out, for example, whether the soil under the grass is overly acidic. Should the moss return after a short time, it is worthwhile analysing the soil. While this whole process removes the moss, it is actually stressful for the lawn, therefore you should strengthen the grass by using fertiliser afterwards. After that, you can still sand the lawn, which is especially useful for shady, damp areas. A damp, heavily compacted lawn surface should also be aerated. This is done by mowing the lawn briefly and then combing it in a checkerboard pattern. The best way to start getting rid of moss is to dethatch the lawn in the spring. After all, if a lot of moss has already grown, the grasses may be too weak to stand up to it. To remove moss from the lawn a device will have to be used.Ī mossy lawn needs some love and attention to get rid of the stubborn spore plant. However, this only applies to smooth surfaces like floors and furniture. If you want to remove moss without using a device such as a pressure washer or weed remover, it’s best to plan in a bit of extra time. You can decide which method you want to use. However, since they can be toxic, they should only be used when all other methods and efforts have proved ineffective. Chemical moss removers can be used to remove moss from the lawn.Alternatively, there are mechanical weed removers that use rotary motions to loosen moss from the various surfaces. A pressure washer is also a great tool, especially when cleaning large areas. Scratch brushes loosen moss from larger areas. This is especially efficient for removing moss that has settled in pavement joints. You can also remove moss with various tools such as small, blunt knives. When using home remedies, however, first do a test on an inconspicuous spot to make sure it can be used. These methods usually require some time and are therefore mainly suitable for small areas overgrown with moss. Home remedies such as cola and other fizzy drinks are environmentally friendly, and are often something you already have at home. Given all these possible places and surfaces where moss can grow, it’s not surprising that there are many different ways to remove moss. makes the transition between courses of study smoother.lets students concentrate on their studies rather than having to worry about visa applications, and.provides certainty for students and their families. To stay in New Zealand on a Pathway Student Visa, students still need to meet the pre-requisites for any second and third courses on their study pathway.
